My personal journey

The Paw-fect Dog SchoolI am Mary, the owner and founder of The Pawfect Dog School. Firstly I'd like to say how privileged I am to do a job that I love and am truly passionate about.

I am Mary, owner and founder of The Paw-fect Dog School. Firstly, I would like to say how privileged I am to do a job that I love and am truly passionate about.

Most recently, in 2016 I celebrated our tenth year and I am currently enjoying our largest ever customer base.

In 2014 I also opened a rescue section to run alongside the training school - bringing in waifs and strays and rehabilitating them in the hope they find their forever homes.

Harry, my first dog, set me on the road to learning and training with many methods. My experiences with Harry set the standard and after his tragic loss I found myself unexpectedly taking on dogs with issues.

On a personal mission to find help I found the only way most trainers knew how - to train dogs with old fashioned dominance and fear based methods that regularly do more harm than good. Through these struggles and working with others who encountered the same frustrations, I forged my own techniques that denounced the archaic and problematic methods many are urged to follow.

My own dogs are the real inspiration for The Pawfect Dog School. My old boy Ash and my beautiful girl Holly, having lived a long and happy life, taught me more than any book ever could. Their legacy lives on and each year we go from strength to strength, never diluting what we do.

Elk, my Norwegian Elkhound is a working dog, doing the most fantastic work helping other dogs and is proving to be a real asset to the school. He has helped so many and deserves an award, his calmness and reassurance brings a balance to our teachings. My other rescues, Sheba, Bea and Frank provide constant entertainment and companionship outside of my day-to-day teachings.

We have an open door policy here - everyone is welcome and we share our knowledge with like minded dog owners and trainers alike.
